Uh... if the technique interrogates the "soul", why would it matter if the body dies? Especially if its only recently dead, there should be enough remnants to conduct an investigation. They have people who can literally separate their souls from their body. Extracting memories from the recently deceased shouldn't be that far of a stretch.
